MY PLAN

my plan

President Obama's speech was great! It was good to way to motivate students, and start off the school year with positive messages reassuring us all that we are capable of great things and giving the charge to succeed. President Obama acknowledged the various struggles that young people go through and insured us all that we can over come anything and still be a success.

The speech really hit home for me,"...The circumstances of your life - what you look like, where you come from, how much money you have, what you've got going on at home - thats no excuse for neglecting your homework or having a bad attitude. That’s no excuse for talking back to your teacher, or cutting class, or dropping out of school. That’s no excuse for not trying. Where you are right now doesn’t have to determine where you’ll end up. No one’s written your destiny for you. Here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future." I am a teen mom with obstacles of my own. In a weird was it felt like he was talking directly ti me. A lot of the times I am not 100% focused and I can often let my obstacles serve as road blocks. I am extra amped this school year. I haven't been doing my best in the past, but i am back with a vengeance. I am putting my all into everything I do from here on out. Not only for me but for my daughter, for my family, for my peers, and for the benefit of the future.

"It’s the story of students who sat where you sit 250 years ago, and went on to wage a revolution and found this nation. Students who sat where you sit 75 years ago who overcame a Depression and won a world war; who fought for civil rights and put a man on the moon. Students who sat where you sit 20 years ago who founded Google, Twitter and Facebook and changed the way we communicate with each other." Todays youth are tomorrows future and when you really think about it, if we keep going in the direction we are, its a scary thing. My father often jokes about this with my little brother and I. Men walk around with their jeans down to their knees, women seem to have lost alot of their sense of self respect, we don't speak properly and we have turned a historically negative and degrading word into an every day greeting. We are really out of control, it seems we as a whole don't have the same values, morals or work ethic as the generations before us. One of us is going to be the next president, the next Mayor, the next Supreme court justice. I want to make a positive impact on this world.

I have aspirations of having a career the United States Air Force and later becoming and ROTC instructor. I want to do great things. In order to make my dreams come true I have to stay focused, advance my education and keep my eye on the prize. I cant let anything get in my way.
